A new pantry for me

The other day I was gone with my girls shopping, and when I came home I was happily surprised with a new pantry with so much more space.  I had previously had stuff in my laundry room on shelves (which isn’t super conducive when you are short and the shelves are high), and I had a small closet in the basement where I felt like I crammed food in.  This space was one where hubby used to have a shelf that he could “build” stuff on, but he never used.  This space ended up being a large closet where everyone threw all misc stuff into.  So we had suitcases in there, Christmas ornaments, and so much more.  He cleared it all out, and bought shelves and bam…..a new pantry.  The funny part is all the stuff I had crammed into the tiny closet looked like so much food, but when it is spread out on these shelves it looks like nothing.  I am so happy with this space especially since it has two large sliding doors, so easy to get into and easy to move around.

Today’s project…..move the food from the laundry room into the new pantry.

Today is her 31st birthday

After being gone for six weeks…..

 I left my home in June to attend a wedding, and then from there headed off to my daughter’s house to awake the birth of my grand baby.  I was gone a total of six weeks, and was super stressed out over what would happen to my garden.  This year (my first year doing this) I decided to plant a large (to me) garden.  My husband built me several boxes so that I could keep things orderly.  Everything was planted before I left, and my husband did the best he could taking care of it while I was gone.  When I came back I couldn’t believe how much everything had grown.  Honestly it was a little much for me to see because it was overgrown, there were weeds and it didn’t look anything like I had planned it to be.  That being said we are still getting a lot of vegetables from it.   One of the first things I decided to do was make pickles because we had so many cucumbers.  Yesterday I ran three batches of pickles through the canner.  I had planned on doing more, but my daughter came over so I put i

His next assignment….

 Today hubby was offered a new contract, but this time he would be going to Ohio.  I am so unsure of how I feel about that one.  He will be at least 6 hours away.  He thinks it might be a good idea because it is four 10 hour days which he says would leave him with three days off to be at home.  The problem with that is it will be much further away….the pay is also $200 less per week, and it would definitely mean no driving home after work to see me.  With gas prices as high as they are that has me a little nervous too. Right now he is two hours away and that was hard.  How will I handle six hours away?????   Part of the big problem is I think he is worried about getting the “ideal” job and if he passes one up then a better one won’t come along.  I have to admit I am a little worried about that as well especially since he has to have a new contract signed before this one ends.   Another part of what worries me is that they want to hire him without even interviewing him.  My fear is they
